Minutes of the SIPB Meeting of 12/31/90


	The meeting was called to order at 19:34 by jik.

	Treasurer's Report:

	Chairman's Report:

                jik nominates mhpower for membership.  dkk seconds.
Motion passes unanimously.

	Office Report:

                The office is a closed pit.

                Some hardware (in particular, steve) was moved around.
Don't complain, it's good for you.

	MIT Computing Report:

                Athena is up to version 7.2P. The OLC server,
matisse, was upgraded from a VS II to an RT.

	Computer Services:

                Podge is still broken; DEC field service was supposed
to show up Friday afternnon, but didn't due to car problems because of
the snow.  The next scheduled repair is at Wednesday, 1/2/91, at 12:30
PM.

                The pbm utilities for the vax and rt have been removed
from the SIPB locker and replaced with a shell script directing
people to the graphics locker. The decmips binaries have not been
removed, since the pbm utilities aren't compiled for the decmips in
the graphics locker.

	Ronald-Ann Backup Report:

                We should probably get a hold of the new backup
software that probe has been working on, because it's easier to use.
No full backup has been done since December 17.

	Publications Report:

                jik read through Inessential AFS and found a lot of
mistakes, which he will be forwarding to qjb, whom we all know to be
very busy.

	R/O Report:

                January is R/O (planning month)**9.

	IAP Report:

                It's alive. First SIPB-sponsored activity is Tuesday
morning (first session of amehta's C class).

                There was a leap second just before 0000 UTC.

                Next week brings us a new generation of ST-TNG.
