Minutes of the SIPB Meeting of 03/24/97


The meeting was called to order at 19:30 by kretch.

In attendance were

Treasurer's Report:

	kretch: The $2M VMA accounting error is just something they
		put in denote that our account shouldn't go away,
		there's no real dollar value.

Chairman's Report:

Office Report:

	jweiss: Lorraine ordered the coat racks, and they should come in
		tomorrow. Someone should be around during the afternoon to
		receive them.

	ghudson: meadow is running low on toner, and we don't have a spare
		cartridge. It's easy to get them, just send mail to Jane.
	jweiss:	Move to allocate $500 for toner cartridges, and unallocate 
		any previous funds.

MIT Computing Report:

	ghudson: An SGI patch is going out tonight. It includes fixes so that
		applications (like Applixware) don't crash the machine.

	jweiss: The cooling shutdown has been extended another week.

	danw: Account deactivation is going on. The Class of '96 is being
		lerted next week.

Computer Services:

	ghudson: Last week a disk on ronald-ann went bad. There was no
		data on it, and we've got a replacement.

	ghudson: It looks like we'll want to get a second CPU for beacon.

SIPB Backup Report:

	kretch: A sipb-backup list has been created to keep track of
		UFS backups. No one has used it yet.
	jweiss: Maybe because no one has announced it.
	kretch: will do.
	mhpower: Should there be a discuss meeting?
	ghudson: I'll make one.

Publications Report:

	kretch: We're low on stuff, and I can't deal for the next 2
		days. It would be useful if someone did this.
