Perhaps we should get the office fumigated. nygren: If it's one ant or cockroach, maybe it was an isolated incident, we should wait and see if there are more. Office cleaning report: jhawk: Someone spilled coke in the recycling bin. rjbarbal: Scheduled office cleaning did not happen last friday. Perhaps we should change the time. Also the collection tray under the fridge needs cleaning. kretch: I wasn't around, am disappointed that cleaning didn't happen. Will send mail about fridge tray. jhawk: Was it cleaned two weeks ago? rjbarbal: No. Not since the fridge was moved in here. MIT Computing Report: danw: There's a test dialup. It's called test.dialup. It's average usage is 2 people, sometimes getting as large as 10, in busy periods. You should use it so we can test things and you'll have a nice fast machine. yonah: Should mention it on cfyi. kcr: And tell Random. kretch: Rumor has it that it has some security fixes too. Computer Services: yonah: One step closer to the www migration. kretch: WebSIS is down the day before reg day. Go figure. amu: RH-athena 4.2 hasn't happend yet; currently in beta. SIPB Backup Report: kretch: AFS is happening as we speak. jhawk: Planning to update btc to 8.1. amu: Some software built against 8.1 won't run on 8.0, btc is the last 8.0 machine in the office. jhawk: Should we keep an 8.0 around? srz: Until IS desupports it. jhawk: What does that mean? srz: Until IS no longer has public machines running it. amsmith: lots of private workstations still run 8.0 danw: they deserve to lose amsmith: They may be just trying to fix scripts so that the update won't mess them up. jhawk: People having broken scripts is not a sufficient reason to keep a non-current OS around. We can fix problems w/o replicating them exactly. Other: jhawk: This morning the repeater on 18.181.0.30 (W20-575A-SIPB-REP-STUB) stopped pinging. This is somewhat disturbing. jweiss: Occasionally they stop pinging and management fails, but the repeater continues to forward frames just fine. jhawk: Yes, but only intermittantly; I'll drop a note to network if it doesn't clear up. jhawk: Time on 18.181 seems awful off. People maintaining services on that network should look at their time configuration. Other Other: jweiss: Laverdes is back to normal hours. kretch: Coffee House is also on normal hours if it hasn't been mentioned previously. jhawk: I have $2 bills.
