The meeting was called to order at 19:30 by elliot.

Office Report:
	jhawk: xcb still sucks.  They replaced its system board, and it's
		panicking more often than before.

	jmorzins: I updated steve-dallas to 8.2. As part of mkserv remote,
		I told it not to allow unencrypted remote logins, just
		because.

Office Cleaning Report:
	mycroft: It happened.

MIT Computing Report:
	jhawk: The 8.2 public release happened. It really sucked.
		More specifically, there appeared to be an AFS server
		overload that took place during the public cluster update.

	mhpower: The number of Athena passwords compromised by packet
		sniffers is *many*.  SIPB members should be careful 
		with their passwords, as one compromised SIPB password
		would compromise all office machines. I'm not sure of 
		the solution...perhaps members who often send their
		password over the net should remove themselves from
		the syncsipb passwd.add file.

Computer Services:
	jhawk:	The missing news Ultra 60 will not completely show up
		until the end of this month.

SIPB Backup Report:
	jdaniel: foley's been doing backups during the day today.

Publications Report:
	jhawk: We got new cluster cards, which include the new cluster
		combo as of October 1. We are out of Athena reference 
		cards.  People should always cc: sipb-staff when sending
		mail to sendpubs.

R/O Report:
	tb: The Activities Midway is Tuesday, September 1.
