Minutes of the SIPB Meeting of 12/25/2000


The meeting was called to order at 19:31:15  by jweiss.

Treasurer's Report:

	she's in Michigan

Chairman's Report:
	
	he's in Virginia

Office Report:

	it's in Massachusetts, but closed

Office Cleaning Report:

	still closed, we don't know if it's clean or not, but we're
		not betting on it being clean

MIT Computing Report:

	kcr: there was this scary MITCET thing on the podium, any idea
		what that stands for.
	jweiss: MIT council for Educational Technology
	kcr: it contains lots of scary stuff like "MIT forever", "a
		student owned laptop at no additional cost to the
		student", "Increased leveraging of the web for
		application and service delivery", Athena cluster
		space transformed into multi-functional teaching and
		learning space and special purpose clusters" etc.

	jweiss: Garry scheduled an outage of moira to purge the class
		of '99, the deactivation of '00 will follow during
		January.

Computer Services:

	jweiss: I'm going to update multics to 8.4 soon

SIPB Backup Report:

	Garry's also in Virginia, the tapes are in a locked building

Publications Report:

	they're also in a locked building

Orientation Report:

	the office is that way

	the coke is in a locked building

Other:

	kcr: The last multics passed away a few weeks ago.  This was
		the 'support' multics machine for everyone who had a
		multics support contract.

Other Other:

	dbj has a cool phone that has been distracting people for the
		whole meeting.
