Minutes of the SIPB Meeting of 10.21.02


The meeting was called to order at 7:30 by tibbetts.

Office Report:
	tibbetts: I spent five dollars on plates and forks because we
		had none.
	hartmans: Yaaay.

	tibbetts: The drawer labeled stationery has been an ongoing
		match between the cruft and food and the food is winning. I may
		get rid of the terminal in the near future.

Office Cleaning Report:
	alien: It happened.
	tibbetts: The office is a pit. You people are filthy.

MIT Computing Report:
	jhawk: e40 lost power on Sunday morning due to a UPS failure.
		Among other things, this took out 3DOWN for half a day.

Computer Services:
	hartmans: I hope I am going to be unlame this weekend and do
		some work on SIPBdebian. Other people should also be unlame. It
		is lame right now.

	tibbetts: Move to allocate up to $300 for a hard drive for the
		VMware machine. The current 40 is 4 gigs from being full.

	nim: How big?
	tibbetts: Maybe 100, 120? I only have one drive bay.
	hartmans: Is there some point at which sipbvmware wanders into
		the machine room?
	nim: Can we migrate sipbrt off of vmware now that it is a more
		established service?
	tibbetts: You would have to ask the maintainers.

SIPB Backup Report:
	tibbetts: SIPBvmware is about to make the SIPB backup people
		unhappy.

	alien: Schedules office - SUCKS

	hartmans: Before the meeting, I realized I know someone who can
		help me with the writing exploits class. I and tlyu and
		potentially other people will be trying to teach it. We will
		not be trying to make script kiddies; we will try to make
		people understand the issues involved so they can impress their
		coworkers into security.
	jhawk: Have you talked to rtm?
	hartmans: No.

	tibbetts: I am apparently teaching 6.170 in a nutshell over
		three days. If you have strong opinions let me know because i
		do not have any.

CokeComm Report:
	aletta: Doesn't suck.
