Minutes of the SIPB Meeting of 08/11/2003


The meeting was called to order at 19:31 by hartmans.

In attendance were

Treasurer's Report:
	jhawk: The treasurer sent us a postcard [reads it out].  It's
		addressed to SIPB, M.I.T., MA, U.S.A.

Chairman's Report:
	hartmans: The chairman is in (or on his way to) China now.

	ike: I'd like to nominate Joshua Pollack for membership.
	hartmans: You should probably do that at a meeting with more
		than 2 voting members.
	[ various people point out that we're now up to 5 ]
	merolish: What has he done?
	ike: He's polite, keeps the office open, helps users, working
		on packaging OpenAFS and Kerberos for Windows.

Office Report:
	jhawk: meadow's been acting up.  See email.

Office Cleaning Report:
	ike: I'll probably go pick up some stuff tonight.  And maybe
		also pick up some stuff for the bulletin board.
	jhawk: The fish ran today.

MIT Computing Report:
	ike: The 9.2 installer is now available for Linux.

	hartmans: Kerberos for Windows 2.5 was released, including
		some jhawk-incompatible features.

	jhawk: We should think about getting Welcome to Athena whatevers.
	hartmans: That's just a send mail to sendpubs?
	jhawk: They may not exist yet.

Orientation Report:
	merolish: It's coming up.

	hartmans: Do we have someone working on tours?
	[ nobody knows for sure ]
	ike: How much work is involved?
	hartmans: Speak to jtu, who ran it last year.

	kchen: Ask SIPB is running... probably 6 columns during
		orientation.  Some repeats, mostly new.

	ike: I defeated Master Kaen in Nethack.

	yonah: It's been a really long time since I've taken minutes.

	hartmans: Microsoft sucks a lot, in particular with respect to
