Minutes of the SIPB Meeting of 25/08/2003


The meeting was called to order at 19.30.16 by merolish.

In attendance were

Treasurer's Report:
	merolish: The treasurer is probably partying right now, as are the rest
		of the EC and voting members.  This leaves me.

Chairman's Report:
	merolish: The chairman is still in China.  I hope he's having a good
		time.  People are just lame.  Where the hell is everyone?  Can
		that not go in the minutes?
	aletta: Do we have, like, a secretary?
	merolish: We have nobody.  We have belmonte taking minutes.  Okay so
		it's Chairman's Report.  We should introduce the frosh.
	aletta: You know when you're substitute chairman your goal is to show
		up the chairman by having the shortest meeting.  I think you've
		already failed.
	jbarnold: My name is Jeff Arnold.  I am a freshman interested in this
		organisation, so I'm here.  That's about it.

Office Report:
	aletta: We have an office.
	deberg: I broke the stapler.
	tibbetts: Oh, I actually broke that stapler like that the other day.
		You can fix it with vise grips.
	jemorris: meadow's jamming a lot less.

Computer Services:
	deberg: steve-dallas died.  Uh, one of the CPU's just doesn't seem to
		exist anymore.  We need a CPU terminator which we actually
		can't appear to find.  We can just buy a new CPU for a couple
		hundred bucks.  I'm frustrated because sipb-rt is one of the
		services on steve-dallas and my whole entire campaign is on
		sipb-rt.
	tibbetts: steve-dallas, the SIPB vmware host, died the other day.  It
		seems to have toasted a processor or something.  We should
		probably fix the machine or something, uh, so, move to allocate
		up to $300 for parts to fix the machine.  We could buy a new
		machine, since this one is getting crufty, but buying a new
		machine would be about $3000 to $4000.  I was going to tell
		people to move stuff off it and was planning to shoot it around
		December, but then it died.
	tytso: What processor does it have?
	tibbetts: Socket 370 P3's.

Publications Report:
	belmonte: We're out of cluster cards.
	merolish: Oh, yeah, we're out of cluster cards.  We should get more.

Orientation Report:
	aletta: I created the list sipb-midway-03.  We can use it for frosh,
		people who come to the midway or who stop by the office.
	merolish: ike sent mail about tours.
	aletta: Very noncommittal.
	merolish: We may have tours.

IAP Report:
	aletta: Sooner than you think.

CokeComm Report:
	merolish: We got a shitload of Coke.

Other Other:
	belmonte: I'm visiting town through September 19th.
