The meeting was called to order at 7:30:00 by adehnert

In attendance were
Voting members: dove dwilson ianucci tboning dvorak42 codetaku
		adehnert sqshemet btidor
        Associate members: glasgall jhawk quentin
        Prospectives:
        Guests:

Administrivia:
dove: I move to alocate 12.18 for universal AC adapter SIPB defcon. It is an adapter that plugs into the wall, is powered by AC, and results in various barrel-shaped DC outputs control between 15V and 24 V in increments of 1 or .5 volts. Current adapter not powerful enough to drive display. Need ~20V. This adapter is same price and will let us control brightness.
jhawk: Did you include shipping?
dove: It's free shipping.
ian: Could probably use to charge laptops
quentin: Adjustable often unregulated. Make sure you reall want that
dvoe: thought that would be better than ordering and fid not putting out
quentin: I'm objecting to his choice of item
dove: My purpose was twiddle knob, wait til right
wquentinL voltage is current dependent
jhawk: pokay, fairly stable current load.
quentinL Don't know if actually ture. There is a power adapter set aside.
Dove; too weak. Puts out 16.3. Side needs 20.
quentin: have been successful. Might have chosen wrong adapter. Two, one for logic.
ian: Friendly ammendment. Move to allocate 15 for approapriate power supply for DEFCON sign because not enough money for us to spend this time thinkin gabout.
second and white ballot
glas: two allocations. 10 for mini displayport to display port so peopl ewith macooks can use kvm thing.
second and wb
glas: second slightly mmore contensious 1672.94 two UPS battery packs for UPS in SMR
adeh: identical three weeks ago excpet for amount
jhakw: discussed in email
glas; Yes. I think. Quentin>
quentin: probably somewhere that incolves sipb and machine. I think your place to object is a few weeks ago.
jhakw; yes, but if no one can assert confindentlyidiscuessed it, especially in context of speding 10% of budjet, I think we sould discuss it, iunless time critical
glas: We need to have them before we do work on SMR
ian: Thought you were going to say need before next outage
jahawk: I think you shoudl send some email.
glas: I'll send mail to s-m-r
[motion withdrawn]
quenitnL It's in personals with a bunch of people. I do not feel comfrotable forwarding that mail.
adeh: I mostly only heard because happendd to be in office.

SIPB Project Reports:
dove: defcon has some marginal progress. Can remctl sipb-defcon help, set, get. ACL for set is member so f$, that will change, also defcon.mit.edu fetches value of remctl. Placeholders for now. We can wank about right way later.
ian: Can we have a lis theiereacrhy?
dove: Do whatever you want once working.
tbon: cats-whiskers for Scipts now LDAP sync server.
adeh: what left for test?
glas: other direction of replication.
dove: talked with some people tossed around idea of making scentral sipb pgp key with appropraite acls to be used for signing certain things like mitca and possible setting up service for keysigning to ease pgp communication at mit. Poeple odn't always get to mee tiwth anyone communucate wiht. If like, caome tlak to e.
ian: If someone wants to come to sipb, there
dove: hi, there is this person who is alsomst every meeting and whilling to sign keys. Different flavor, actual practive maybe not
jhakw L concenred abusing concept of web of trust. People generally know what it means to trus tperson, but not organization. Not somehting that ususally happens in universe. makes it not helpeful. Prime use case needs to be better. Signing stuff that people are too lame to sign themselves doesn't seem like a good reason for us to sing things.
dove: I thought tha tmaking it easier for people to pgp communicate at mit wihtout having to go to x number o keysining parties is a nice thing
jhakw: right way to do that is to encourage members in office to sing keys inidividially, not with faux pseudononous keys
glas: sign next ot he door, yes we will sign key
jhawL eed to make possible first
dove: thoiught oragniztiaont do have keys.
kjhawl not sured for signing random people, kjust projects.
dove: in whatever form interested in.
gals; evm migration on July 20th. Moving from Hardy to PRecice, running an Ubuntu in security support, there will be dowtime of XVM vms. Will try to keep as short as possible.
ian: Also, we expected that hte fact that we were for a long time were ran-limited would prevetnt disk-linited, cpu-liminted, io-liminuted. This all happenbs now. IHilarity ensues. Lopokingforward to putting sponsorship to acquisiions.
glas; Dropbox has donated substational ampount of siubp for purpose of buying hardware.
dv: once Sao doe stransferes from two wkees ago, there whould be more incormation.
glas; we def have 15k from dropbox.
dv: Currently in account. Transfers are piling up.
glas: yes, amount o money equal to nanual budject. Kind of amazing.
Other:
uabL
Other Other:
dwil: card office needs better hours.
ian: understand line around block eralire today. All grad students cards expeire every year or two at the same time.
dwil: and some of us aren't on campus every week or two
ian: if you try to upgrade, your new thing won't be charliecard. I went to the card office and tried. I have a story.
quentin: There is a list of valid ID. Only one of this is MIT id. Walk in and present a drivers licence.
jhawk: Not if you've just walked out.
adeh: How long do alum ids last for
quentin: good wquestion.
ian: hours posted on MBTA website are unhelpful. Ask a random officer.
dwilson: doesn't star sell charlie cards?
sqshemet L and 8-11
dove: Moral of story is alum should last longer
jhawk: Just ask T officer for card.
dove: "Ethanol Train Victory"
quentin: Boooo
adeh: what doe shta tmean?
jhawk; lobby to prvent ethanol-carrying trains has apparently succeeded.
ian: richard stallman is chaotic-gnutral
quentin: this week contains july 4th. This is perhaps notable because very different schedules and security restricstions. Most notably harvard bridge clusing at 4pm on the 4th. Also esplanade not letting you carry anything in after 4pm. Aslo restrictiosn on types of things.
code: get to explande before 4pm with a bunch of stuff...
quentinL going to search you. In order t oexpedite things, not after 4.
dove: Making people come eary and get searched.
quentin: it makes sense, aside from security theature. CLosing not for security but because fireworks display on it. I think it's more valuable for pedestrians.
ahdehL at least accomplishes something.
code: why is it being used for fireworks
adehL one is not enough, you need four.
quentin: thoiught I'd mention so that peopl e reading minutes would remeber to look up restrictsoon. I reccoment watching from cambridge side.
dove: I move that alex ask the question.
ian: Is ther any othe rreport ofr any other report at this report.
adeH: Fine. Is there any
dwilson: could you please bang the gavel?
The meeting was adjourned at 7:54:21.
