Minutes of the SIPB Meeting of 2021-12-06 The meeting was called to order at 19:30 by bds. In attendance were         Student keyholders: bds, gshay, jnwagner, cela, wmoses, huydai         Associate keyholders: asedeno         Members: amigdal, markchil, javsolis         Guests: '() Administrivia:     bds: As kjchen and Shayna are both gone today, I guess bds, the club's treasurer, will be running the meeting today         cela: I would like to allocate $8,000 for a UPS for the SIPB machine room.         cela: Do we want to take a vote since it's a large amount of money?         bds: Would you like to give some more context on what the UPSes are for?         cela: Basically the SMR is currently short on functional uninterruptible power supplies (UPSes), which are what allows it survive a power outage, and currently they are *not functional*. We need to buy a replacement for at least one of the three broken UPSes in order to survive future outages. HWOPS has been doing research this semester on what the right replacement is, and as of Friday we sent out an email about what we plan to purchase. We think it's one of the cheaper options that meets our needs. The UPS itself from Tripp Lite should be around $6,500 for the main modules, and a few hundred more for shipping. I'm asking for $8,000 because there is a chance we might need to change our purchase to one of the alternatives from APC or Eaton; we will decide later this week. ($8,000 is simply the cap for what it should cost).         wmoses: If I recall there is usually a 20% overhead put on top of any allocations to allow for flexible headroom         cela: If anyone wants to provide input, please respond to the email.
