Minutes of the Sipb meeting of 26 sept 1983.

Meeting called to order at 7:37 pm.

Minutes of last weeks meeting read and accepted as corrected.

HSSP: given 250 (provisionally; based on whether Wes will fund them or
not).  They want to teach kids basic.  (yuk!)

Treasurer's report.

MTD:  3719.95 YTD: 13971.53
SPB/SPBA MTD:  1032.23 YTD: 2829.00

We have been losing money.  CLM is finding out how much (from phone

Chairman's report.

EC election.   eligible: BCN, DFM, WCS, Steve, EJB.
(by plurality.  whoever gets the most votes wins)

BCN: 7, DFM: 0, WCS: 2, Steve: 0, EJB: 0  (ramin notes that the score
is in octal).

He goes to talk to Doug Wilson.  Athena.  talk to ramin.
Athena is looking more like computers for the masses.  Our PDP-11 will
go in a random athena room and be on the Athena Net.

Wes Burner.   he still has to talk to them.

Will see Jim Bruce right after Wes.  will ask for $ to buy Unix (tm)
for our pdp-11.  (yuk!)

Office Report.

We nominate RF for office manager and he jumps at the opportunity.

Everyone should sign up for office hours.  Things to do each day.  get
the mail, get the daily and leave for RK to hang.  do things on the
board.  enter applications.

Computer Services Report.

LSC wants to borrow a VT100 for 3 wks.  given.

10.26:  people come in groups wanting to do 200+ pages of text editing
for lab reports.  We will give them userids of the form Chemlab1,
Chemlab2, ... , Chemlab10, ...
Auto limit is $100 per person (if 4 people apply, you can give them up
to 400 dollars, but not all at once).

pascal is broken tell people so.

Telecomunications report.

DC hayes ordered.

Make sure that you put all (all) of the Spinwronger output in the bin
(don't leave stuff behind it).

Stu cen works.  (wow)

Rk wants to get rid of the boat anchor.  (Old plasma terminal).

CBF wants someone to write a letter to SCC to get new furniture for
the student center terminal room.  Ramin thinks it's a great idea.
RF volunteers to write the letter (wow!)

Office keys:  RDZ has decided that (after many flamed out at him) we
shouldn't change it.  RF will get the key changed to a 62-K.

We will talk about long distance lossage at next meeting.

H19 still at bromley.

At next week's meeting we will decide to buy a Va3451.
