*** User Interrupts ***

Kubomura: $200 batch for stress calculations. Given $100 on
Multics.

Bosch: $150 for least-squares chemistry crunching on the 370. Wants
to test the efficiency of his new program against previously written
FORTRAN programs. We talked him into running everything on Multics,
and doing the metering there. Given $100.

Treasurer's report: SIPBIAP spending: $470.51 so far. Motion to
raise cost of coke to members to $.25 each was un-tabled from the
previous meeting. (GMP had a Pepsi attack which could be relieved
only by taking a case home with him.) Passed unanamously. KLE
suggested that we could possibly get "Mr. Pibbs" from Coke more
cheaply than Dr. Pepper.

Chairman's report: "The Comittee on Future Computing At MIT" met
today and requested that we send them a representative. LSP and/or
DCH volunteered. Both will attend.

Office report: We got 13 manual racks for $100 total. A suggestion
was made to provide manual racks and (possibly) manuals with the
terminals we distribute. Much discussion ensued. A motion was made
to offer a manual rack with each terminal (while supplies last!)
and offer to "sell" them
(i.e. see that they get at cost) whichever manuals that they want.
Passed. Motion to sell 2 of the racks to the Math Dept. @ $25
apiece. Passed. The office was found unlocked and open this past
week. Please
check to see that the door is closed when you leave! We will
negotiate an office cleaning with p-plant.

370 report: DLW motioned "MTTAS". Alan Bawden was not heard seconding
the motion. We have VM manuals.

Multics report: spool_ecs_plots blew up logging out and ran for 24
minutes before RAR canceled it.

IAP report: Still going. LISP course is still popular. There is a
300 lb. block of ice in Lobby 7 with one of our DECwriters guarding
it. We are copying the LISP manual for consumption by LISP course
takers. (note: Chapter 3 of the LISP manual is coming.)

.ti 0
Publications report: We should finish JMB's Error Memo. There is a
possibility that the LISP notes will be published in their entirity
(after some more editing, of course). A motion was made to
charge $.25 for ECS manuals. Passed. A motion was made to keep a
small stock of "The Multics Introductory Users' Guide" on hand and
sell them to users when the Publications Office is closed, etc.
Passed. Beware of giving out manuals to random passers-by without
any security of getting them back.

.ti 0
Telecommunications: DCH went to see Joe Connors about our terminal
service contracts. Somebody somewhere is going to sign the contract
before the first of February. Connors was of the opinion that the
pre-contract terminal check-out had been done already. We should go
to see Burner about the lossage we are experiencing with the
contracts. Several terminals are down.

.ti 0
Other: Suggestion to move next weeks meeting to 18:00 due to the LSC
Magic Show. Passed. A question was raised as to other possibilities
for meeting places. General opinion was to leave it in the office.
Rumor has it that MIT-MC is installing passwords. Bets? The 20 seems
to have been named MIT-ITS. Good sign? RMP is back!

Applications: $725 autoed, $300 given, $150 deferred, $1025 total.

TKWong: $50 for random Multics hacking. Deferred (due to warning
form) until he comes to a meeting.

Good: $100 additional for UROP project. His tape is "bad", needs to
type in all data by hand. Deferred until he talks to GMP about
getting his tape read.

Phipps: $50 for re-learning Multics. Given.

KGWallace: $50 for a room-assignments program. Given.

Letterman: $50 for batch practice in preparation for the RPI
programming contest. Given.
