Minutes of the SIPB Meeting of 9/10/79



The meeting was called to order at 19:30 by CAH.

In attendance were Richard Mark Soley, JKL, NAHA, PAE, ALAN, BSG, ACW,
	RLL, DPC, c/, JSL, Ed, ZRM, RDM, archy, GMP, JG, BIM, JIS, CAH,
	SAS, and various freshman (see attached sheet.) CRD and DCP came
	in late.

Minutes of last week's meeting were read and accepted with corrections.
	(CRD came in at this point)

Treasurer's Report: We have spent $1711.53 so far this month.  $418 
	of this was spent on SIPBADMIN.

	TEP wanted $50 for its phone billing system. Approved.

Chairman's Report: The chairman wrote a letter to Paul Grey, will send it tomorrow
	(to see if we can get more money.) (DCP came in at this point.)

Office Report: A new three-hole punch was secured by NAHA. The NEC spinwriter
	will be returned to the office tomorrow.  An office-hours sheet will be
	put up; sign up!

Multics Report: IPC will have a contract with Honeywell in another week.

SIPBTEXT Report: We are short of money for SIPBTEXT.  There was a motion to
	continue text processing as a part of our regular services with all
	of the same restrictions as our regular services.  There was a similar
	but negative motion.  The first motion passed.  There was a motion to 
	make the auto limit for text processing $50 per year.  Motion was
	withdrawn.  

Telecommunications Report: Our LA36 used in the R/O center has been returned.
	Jean Bonney hasn't decided whether to buy the spinwriter from us; will
	talk to JG tomorrow.  Our budget for this year for telecommunications
	is $0.00, but we have about $2000 left from last year.  There was a
	motion to buy the APL option for the LA36 for $700.  Failed.
	Ashdown has asked for a terminal after the next allocation.

Publications Report: Prof. Licklider (6-030) has asked to use the LISP notes
	for 6-030.  We are going to print enough for ourselves and him (350).
	They are costing us under $2.00 each.  RLL will announce the new
	LISP book price when such is computed by printing such price on
	such blackboard closest to 39-200.
