Minutes of the SIPB Meeting of 9/17/79 The meeting was called to order at 19:30 by CAH. In attendance were Richard Mark Soley, GMP, BSG, JIS, NAHA, RMP, RDM, DCP, archy, BEE, DPC, RLL, ACW, Wendy, Charity, Dorothy, Shawn, and various freshmen.(See attached list) JCG, Ed, c|, JSL, and PAE came in late. The minutes of the previous minutes were read and accepted. JCG came in at this point. ***User Interrupts*** Joseph C. Page, Jr. $50 on Multics to solve "stiff ODE's". Passes. Steve Philips,for HSSP, $1000. Passes. PAE came in at this point. Treasurer's Report: We have spent $2820 total so far this month. $1169 on Student, $677 on SIPBADMIN, $120 on SIPB, and $851 on ECS ($269 of this on shift 1). Applications: Minta, $50 additional, to complete heat computations. Passes. Sullivan, Bonny, $50, voted by EC because not to be added until next year. Ed and c| came in at this point. Stu_Fac, $150, for their newsletter. Deferred until they are sure they cannot get Course 6 money. Woods, John, had been deferred to meeting; called to say couldn't come to meeting. Koso, Gregor, $160, for writing papers and maintaining his knowledge of LISP, BASIC, and other languages. Deferred until end of the meeting. The rest of this report was moved to the end of the meeting. Chairman's Report: Chairman talked to Jean Bonney lately. PAI, the library, and all consulting are being moved to the second floor! There will be evening consultants on both machines. Jean has the idea that SIPB should do some Multics consulting for the center in return for money. To be talked about. She also wants to know how much the LA120 is being used. She will also buy the spinwriter, still to be used in the office and by us. The chairman delivered the letter to Paul Grey, and will be talking with him soon. The chairman is searching for a faculty advisor. Office Report: The people list on the wall is presently being updated as to active/non-active members. The office manager is reclaiming office drawer space. Beware! KTOC! (Keep The Office Clean!) Multics Report: 6-030 registered 180 people last night; everything getting along semi-fine. SIPBADMIN has sma to 6-030 student dirs, but be careful. Licklider is considering hard-wired 1200 baud Telerays for Delphi. Network software was slightly broken lately, and has been fixed. There was a motion to discontinue text-processing accounts. Fails. 370 Report: There will be new student OLC's on CMS and VS1 starting tonight. ECS Report: There have been many people logging in anonymous lately with random or offensive names. People should use bxa blast or bxa bump at their own discretion. CS Report: () Telecommunications Report: There has been a sudden rash of broken terminals. The spinwriter is back! (and leaving again soon.) The hardwired Multics line will have DTI tied high (with a switch in case you want to hang it up.) Keep a watch on the paper in the Student Center LA120. Publications Report: LISP books are here (they are now $2.00); 200 were sold to Course 6. ECS notes coming soon. AL40's need to be gotten for sale in the office. New green cards need to be created and mailboxes stuffed with same. Honeywell is coming out with a new and better introduction to Multics. There was a motion to print and sell EMACS tutorials (at cost). The motion was withdrawn, but people should think about printing the correct documentation. Annual Report: There is still nothing being done. Do something. Elections: There is an empty space on the Executive committee. The voting was as follows: DPC:0 JCG:1 JKL:0 RDM:5 ZRM:0 NAHA:0 DCP:6 Congratulations to DCP. JSL came in at this point. Other: Pay your CokeComm! Member's SIPB bills should be sent out. The annual report really needs to be worked on. Applications: (continued from above.) Koso, from above; $75 passed. Bethelmy, $100, for particle physics simulation. Passed. Baylocq, Michele, $100, for term paper and other reports. Fails. There was a motion to give $50. Passes. Korean Student Association, $30, continuation of last year's work (meeting listings, schedules, etc.) Rejected. RMPII, $40, to practice LISP. Approved. $1895 autoed on Student, $0 on ECS. $2310 total approved, $30 rejected. Other Other: If you have a gas oven, sleep with the window open. JIS almost lost it last night. Careful when you register people; somebody's name got spelled wrong. (Also, write more carefully.) BEE has been here lately (at this meeting, for instance). DCH has also shown up lately. BIM is gone for a year. RK is returning for a while. The walls will be waxed this weekend; everything must be taken down.(Just kidding) At this point the meeting was closed to non-members for a closed session.
