Title: Policy on Sanctions Date Passed: 2007-04-23 Text: The SIPB shall use a fair process, open to the public, in order to consider any sanction against an affiliate (member, prospective or guest) other than revocation of membership, unless requested otherwise by the respondent (the affiliate). Within this process, the respondent will be informed of the reasons sanctions are being considered and will be given an opportunity to respond. The vote on such sanctions may be by secret ballot. Under no conditions may a member, complainant or the respondent be excluded from this fair process by the SIPB. This policy does not apply to interim measures. The exclusion of an affiliate from the process of creating or maintaining a SIPB project shall not be considered a sanction under this policy. Clarification (2016-04-15): The process specified in this policy is distinct from the discipline process described in Section X.1 of the Constitution of the Board. In no way does this policy limit or otherwise affect the powers of the Executive Committee to sanction, which are only limited by the Constitution.
