Subject: sipb computer tours!
Date: Fri, 21 Aug 1998 21:52:49 EDT

Hello! SIPB computer tours will be on Thursday, September 10 (that's
during the first week of classes). You would like to help me, as
you are a kind and wonderful individual.

The tour is aimed at new MIT students, to give them an inside look at
the interesting uses of computers in various labs and groups around
campus. It's a good opportunity both for students to learn about what
sort of research is going on around campus, as well as for research
groups to attract potential UROPs.

If you have a UROP or other lab on campus that you think would be a
good stop on the tour, please let me know. In the past, we've shown
off stops in the media lab, the AI lab, LCS, and Athena. I've sent out
mail to contacts for past sites, but could always use more suggestions.

As I mentioned above, the date we've scheduled for this year's tour is
Thursday, September 10th. The tours run from about 7 pm to 10 pm.
Afterward, we will have food and a guest speaker in 6-120. Tell people
to meet at 6:45pm in Lobby 7; we will split up into groups and depart
by 7pm.

We need volunteers for the following:

1. Leading groups of students around to demo sites.
2. Postering campus the week before.*
3. Food shopping and planning for snacks afterwards in 6-120.

...and now is the perfect time to tell me how you want to help!
Because SIPB computer tours are SIPB. No, computer tours are tours.
Yeah, that's it.

Laura

*This email, which I blatantly copied from last year's, used to include
the phrase "designing posters and" on that line, but I've been planning
to use the design from last year. If, however, someone is interested in
creating a new design, I probably won't object.
