I'm helping coordinate the SIPB Computer Tour this year, and I'm writing to see if you'd be interested in giving a demo of anything your group has been working on (or, if you can't, finding out if you can recommend someone in your group who might be able to). The tour is aimed at new MIT students, to give them an inside look at the interesting uses of computers in various labs and groups around campus. It's a good opportunity both for students to learn about what sort of research is going on around campus, as well as for research groups to attract potential UROPs. The date we've scheduled for this year's tour is Thursday, September 9th, which is during the first week of classes. The tours run from about 7 pm to 10 pm. Typically, we get enough people that we need to split the tour into about three groups, so there would be three demos over that time period. The demos are typically 10-15 minutes long. Afterward, we usually have food and a guest speaker, which you are invited to join us for, if you wish. If you are able and willing to give a demo, please let me know the largest and ideal group size for you, as well as the minimum and ideal amount of time you'd like to give them demo. If you can't, but you know someone else in your group who might be able to, would you please forward this to them? Thank you very much.
