We tried making the tour transportation by van instead of by walking this year. We rented the vans from the Budget by Necco. They were supposed to have given us two vans, but one of the vans did not start, and Budget punted and closed for the day instead of helping us deal. golem was stranded somewhere way down Vassar because of this. We borrowed the Epsilon Theta van, which gave us 30 seats, so things were ok. Having 45 seats would've been much more useful. 15-passenger van rental runs about $100 a day. There is an MIT discount available at many locations. Budget is not one of these locataions. (The thought was the proximity to campus would make everything worth it.) You'll need over-21 people to drive, and someone with a credit card to pay. Many places have a the-person-who-picks-up-the-vehicle-is-the-driver policy. We parked in the W91/Hyatt parking lots for the W91 trip, a little down Windsor St. for the N42 trip, and left the vans in the East Garage for NE43, the Media Lab, and stories. We picked up the frosh from Kresge, and returned the vans in the morning.
