Stop: ATIC
Name: Adaptive Technology for Information and Computing
Status: Confirmed
Org/Dept/Grp: ATIC
Location: 7-143
Length: ~10 minutes
Size: More than 20 would probably be crowded.
Notes:

Stop: W91
Name: Happy fun server room
Status: Confirmed
Org/Dept/Grp: DOST
Location: W91
Length: ~30 minutes, not including any of the walking
Size: 30 is probably ideal. It gets hard to hear what's
going on when you get much above that number. (I
wouldn't actually recommend splitting a group and
having half go to a different stop unless it was
significantly more than 50 or so, but you should be
aware that it does get hard to hear). If both of the
people who have done it in the past are available next
year, having two groups going through in different
directions might help. We did W91 and W92 in
		parallel, and then switched locations.

Contact-notes: Karen Fortoul is the Team Leader for the Data Center
Operations Team; she gave our query to the evening
		shift leader, Renea Walton (renea@mit.edu)

Stop: W92
Name: Happy fun server room
Status: Confirmed
Org/Dept/Grp: Ops
Location: W92
Length: ~30 minutes, not including any of the walking
Size: 30 is probably ideal. It gets hard to hear what's
going on when you get much above that number. (I
wouldn't actually recommend splitting a group and
having half go to a different stop unless it was
significantly more than 50 or so, but you should be
aware that it does get hard to hear). This year we
did W91 and W92 in parallel with two groups, and then
		swapped.

Contact-email: cfox@mit.edu, zacheiss@mit.edu, jweiss@mit.edu, jis@mit.edu
Contact-notes: Garry was busy, and Jonathan was uncontactable (he
left town before replying to our emails). Camilla was
helpful, but didn't want to host the stop herself
since she had a hard time talking over the machines.
After some sadness, jis volunteered to do it.

Stop: N42
Name: Accounts & Helpdesk
Status: Confirmed
Org/Dept/Grp: Accounts/Helpdesk
Location: N42
Length: ~20 minutes
Size: pretty much indefinite
Contact-name: Jacob Morzinski
Contact-email: jmorzins@mit.edu

Contact-notes: This stop is convenient because it's more or less
between W91 and 32/media lab. It's not as
interesting, though, since as one of the frosh
mentioned, it's "more cubicles." It should probably
get less time than the other stops.

Stop: Wearables Group
Name: Wearables Group
Status: Confirmed
Org/Dept/Grp: Media Lab
Location: Media Lab
Length: ~20 minutes
Size: probably 20 max
Contact-name: Michael Sung
Contact-email: msung@media.mit.edu, wearop@media.mit.edu
Contact-notes: They seemed to want to spend longer than we allotted
them, and we ended up hurrying them, with one of the
people in the group not getting to talk much. It
might be better to lie about how long we want.

Stop: Intelligent Room
Name: Intelligent Room
Status: Confirmed
Org/Dept/Grp: CSAIL
Location: 32, 8th floor
Length: There's currently no actual intelligent room because
of the move from NE43, but they're working on getting
that set up. We watched videos this year, learned
about sketching, and also looked at some robots from
                a different CSAIL group.
Size: 20 is possible but a touch crowded
Contact-name: Max Van Kleek
Contact-email: max@mit.edum, aire-contact@csail.mit.edu, kbarr@mit.edu
Contact-notes: [from 2004] This group was really hard to get in touch
with. After sending several messages to
		hes@csail.mit.edu, and aire-contact@csail.mit.edu, I
finally got a response from max. He was on vacation,
so it's not surprising he didn't respond immediately,
but nobody else did either. Howard Shrobe is the head
of the project. Max was out of the country in 2005 as well,
but got back to us and was excited about doing a
tour. I think the right thing to do is to email him
EARLY, before he leaves for the summer and stops
checking email, since he does give a good energetic
tour. He also will run longer than you tell
him he can, so either be prepared to run over, or tell
him he has less time than he actually has. Max sent
email to csail-related to find stops for the CSAIL
tour, and on of the stops, hosted by Ken Barr (kbarr),
was useful in getting in touch with Max just before we arrived.
