Correction of eqs 6.7 and 6.11

Equations 6.7 and 6.11 are misleading the way they are written and ought to be corrected by removing from them the factor \Delta t multiplying the source term. Thanks to Reid Tanaka for spotting this. You can correct the equations by referring to the new corrigenda http://silas.psfc.mit.edu/22.15/lectures/corrigenda.pdf Also for a more elaborate explanation you could (if you care) visit http://silas.psfc.mit.edu/22.15/lectures/ellipticiter.pdf I don't think this affects anything in the final, so don't be alarmed.

Inversion costs

A question about the inversion cost of an NxN matrix arose today. For anyone who is interested, I have posted a document demonstrating what those costs are in the Materials section. If you don't care, or are otherwise preoccupied, just ignore it and this announcement.

Course Evaluation Survey

As some of you have already discovered, you can now rate 22.15 by going to http://web.mit.edu/subjectevaluation/ which is now open.

I encourage you to give constructive feedback on the course. Unfortunately we usually don't usually find out the results of the survey till the end of term, when all the evaluations are released.

Review Session - Friday, 3pm, 24-115

Class,

I will hold a review session for the final exam this Friday, 10/23 from 3-430 pm in 24-115. We will review some of the major topics covered in the course, and discuss any questions you may have as you prepare for the final. I look forward to seeing you all on Friday!
