Invitation: Action Learning Fall Labs Poster Day - 2/16

Hi A-Lab Students,

You are invited to participate in the upcoming Action Learning Fall Labs Poster Day on February 16.

This is an excellent opportunity to communicate your findings and accomplishments with the broader MIT Sloan community, spread the word about the course, and share your experiences! Although posters are not an A-Lab course requirement, teams from past semesters have been excited to create one for display at this event.

The deadline to submit your file for printing is February 8 at 5:00pm. The event itself is February 16, 11:30am-1:00pm. Specific details regarding poster and caption creation (and submission) are available on the course Stellar site under Materials > General > Action Learning Poster Day Instructions.

Please let us know if you have any questions, and if your team is interested in participating! We would love to see you there.

[1/2] IMPORTANT/ACTION REQUIRED Data Destruction Procedures and Details

Hi A-Lab Students,

As part of your participation in Analytics Lab and promise to help MIT Sloan comply with the terms of the NDAs signed on your behalf, we now need you to destroy project related data so that it will not be inadvertently disclosed to unauthorized people, nor that it will be used for any purpose other than the project.

Please note that the timely and appropriate destruction of data is a REQUISITE STEP for the completion of course requirements.

The document detailing destruction procedures for Dropbox, OS X, and Windows is at the course Stellar site > Materials > General > STS Data Destruction Guide.

What data is required to be destroyed? Any information supplied by the project sponsor in any format: emails, notes from a phone meeting, worksheets, records, company documents, any kind of company data. This includes both data that is marked confidential and unmarked data. If the company provided it, it must be destroyed at the end of the project.

What data is not required to be destroyed? You can keep your final paper and other derivative work that does not include company proprietary or confidential information. If there is any doubt, you should ask the sponsor company to help discern what needs to be destroyed.

What are acceptable destruction methods?

- Printed Materials: Documents should be recycled in MIT-approved secure recycle bins. Each academic area and many program offices have these bins.

- Digital Data Controlled by Students: If you have the data in Dropbox or on your own computers, you must delete the data using appropriate tools.

- Digital Data Controlled by Sloan Technology Services: STS will destroy the data according to MIT Sloan IT policies.

IMPORTANT: Your team is asked to send a SINGLE email to Susan Young (susany@mit.edu) with the subject line “A-Lab 2016 Data Destroyed - [PROJECT SPONSOR COMPANY NAME]” that states the data (physical and digital) has been destroyed. The email should be “signed” (student names typed) by all members of your team. These team certifications will remain on file with MIT and will be shared with the sponsor company.

If your project sponsor gave you a laptop or other equipment, please make arrangements with the company directly and include in your certification that you have done what they asked you to do.

Please complete and send your certification by THURSDAY, December 29.

Reminder: Final Reports Due 12/14, 11:59pm

Hi A-Lab Students,

Thanks for an excellent Final Presentations session yesterday!

A reminder that final reports (10 pages maximum, 3000 words, not including figures or references) are due to mentors and Oz (ozr@mit.edu) by 11:59pm ET on Wednesday, December 14.

For your review and consideration as you complete the assignment: video from the 12/12 session is now available under Materials > Final Presentations Session. Please carefully review the 12/9 Stellar announcement about the usage/sharing guidelines that govern these videos.

Video Recording Notice for 12/12

Hi A-Lab Students and Mentors,

For the purposes of mentor and faculty review for evaluations and final grades, student team presentations will be video recorded on Monday, December 12. Below are a few notes from Ellen Baum to make sure everyone is on the same page and that legally, everything remains on the up-and-up. Please let us know if you have any questions about this.

- No other use of the recordings are permitted (that is, they are only to be used as an evaluative/teaching tool internally)

- The presentations should not contain any confidential information; all conditions imposed by the sponsor company NDA are operative for this session

- The recording will be completed by an authorized Sloan staff person - no private taping is permitted

- Nothing from the recorded presentation can be posted to social media or any other cloud/internet environment

- The presentations are to take place in a protected environment; all information shared is for internal A-Lab purposes; no other use of the information is permitted by any student or mentor participant
