Plans for next two weeks

Plans for next two weeks:

Dec. 5 – No class, but I am happy to meet with any group to discuss your project. Just let me know.

Dec. 7 – we will discuss the UNICEF RUTF case that is posted on web site. Please review the material posted on the class site for this session: (1) 60 Minutes segment; (2) the link to the PlumpyField network; (3) and read the case and be prepared to discuss the questions at the end of the case. There is no written assignment for this class.

Dec. 9, 5 to 7 PM – D Lab gala. Each project team should prepare a poster to present at the Gala. I will provide more information about the arrangements for the event as I get them. We can print your poster, but will likely need the files by end of day on Wednesday Dec. 7.

Dec. 12, 14: In last week each group will do a final presentation. We may schedule all three groups on Wed. Dec. 14; or we may want to have one group present on Monday (Dec. 12) and the other two on Wed., Dec. 14. Please keep both days open for now.

In addition to the final class presentation, each group needs to prepare a final report that documents your work and that can be shared with your project sponsor. Each group should also schedule a final presentation with your project sponsor, and should schedule it so that I can attend too.

more on Supply Chain game

If you want to play the game again, you should now be able to do so; I expect you just use the same link, and can redo the simulation.

Supply Chain game debrief

For Wednesday, please prepare a short note (less than 1 page) discussing what your strategy was for playing the game, and what worked and what did not work. You should think about the following questions:

Design & Forecasting
How did you decide which options to choose?
How did you arrive at your forecasts?

Production
How did you decide which supplier(s) to use?
How did you determine the order quantities and timing?
What was the value of a shorter lead time? or more capacity? of market information?
How did you decide whether to adjust the production?
