Final Exams, Grades, and Unclaimed Assignments

Hi Class,

All of your exams and unclaimed assignments from 2.003 have now been made available for pickup from Sheila McNary (Prof. Hover's administrative assistant) in room 5-222.  Final exams are there too, although you aren't allowed to take the finals home with you as per institute regulations.  I will shortly be posting the final exam and solution on the website, and some of the exam statistics.

I believe grades have begun showing up on websis, if yours hasn't appeared yet then it should within the next couple of days.

Have a great summer!

Reminder: Final Exam Tomorrow

Hi,

This is a reminder that the 2.003 final exam will be held from 9am to noon tomorrow at the Johnson Ice Rink.  Please try to get there a few minutes early if possible.  Bring your student I.D. since you may need it to get into the building.  You are allowed  three sheets of notes, front and back, and there will be no calculators permitted.

Good luck with the remainder of your studying, and see you tomorrow.

Lecture material, example problem and old exam

Dear Class:

1. I had made an error in the kinematic constraint of a pulley in one example problem I covered in the class. I have posted revised solutions to that problem. Please see under the 'Handouts' section stellar.

2. I had covered the problem of rod rolling on a semicircular top. Please note that you CANNOT use the ICR approach in this case since the distance of the center of mass is changing from the contact point. Please note this.

3. I have posted Spring 2008 Final Exam and solutions in 'Sample Exams'. The exam has the problem of rod rolling.

4. I have also posted solution to an example problem I posed towards the end of the class. Please see 'Handouts' section.

Review Materials and Other Announcements

Hi Class,

This is to announce that the solutions for Problem Sets 9 and 10 have been posted on the website, along with some sample final exams from previous semesters and their solutions.

There have been some questions about the number of formula sheets you can bring to the exam, and I just wanted to clarify that as stated in the syllabus, you are allowed to bring three 8-1/2"-by-11" sheets with handwritten notes on both sides.

Please see Prof. Hover's previous announcement on the website for a list of all the office hours we'll be holding before the final.
