Information:
The objective of this course is to introduce state-space methods for analysis and design of control systems. The focus will be on introducing the main tools from modern control theory, and developing the basic principles and intuition necessary to use them in solving practical problems. While not sacrificing the rigor of the subject, we will not emphasize the theoretical aspects---referring interested students to more advanced courses. On the other hand, we will emphasize connections to classical control technique, back-of-the-envelope techniques, with the intent to give the students a good appreciation of the available tools, and of their capabilities and limitations.
Most of the course will concentrate on linear systems, but an
introduction to nonlinear control techniques will also be provided.
In terms of applications, the focus will be on aircraft and
spacecraft control, but occasionally examples from other domains
will be used, also taking into account the interests of the
students.

We have uploaded a few previous final exams in the reading material section. The final exam (17th Dec. - Walker - 1.30-4.30pm) will cover all material up to Lec. 31. lab2 / project late submission
Due to the large number of requests for extensions, we have decided to accept late submissions without any penalty for both Lab 2 and the projects until Friday (12/14). You can upload them both on Stellar (one report per lab group is enough). Homework 7 has been posted on Stellar. These problems will not be collected for grading; however, they relate to various aspects of nonlinear control and are good practice for the final exam. We will post the solutions after you have had a few days to look at the problems.

Lab 2 rescheduling
In light of the power outage, there will be no lab sessions on Thursday. Could the affected groups, as well as the group that needed time this Friday, please schedule a time for either Monday or Tuesday of next week. We will be holding all remaining lab sessions on these days. We will let you know when the reports will be due (it is no longer due on Monday).
