Exam 3, etc.
Hello,Exam 3 is ready for pick-up. As most of you have probably already left campus, email Steve to coordinate a meeting time and place. These exams will also be available for pick-up in January. In the meantime, any of us are happy to send you your score by email. The average was 72; the standard deviation was 7. An Exam 3 answer key will soon be posted to Stellar. Final course grades will be available on WebSIS in the near future.
Thank you to everyone for being a great class. We enjoyed being your TAs. We think you all learned a lot and hope you will save your notes so some day, perhaps years down the line, you can remind yourself (if need be) of the finer points of genetic analysis in your model organism of choice.
We look forward to seeing you all around in the coming months and years. Feel free to email any of us with questions about labs, rotations, classes, etc. We'll do our best to be helpful. Finally, enjoy a well-deserved break, and don't forget have fun and soak up as much as you can during IAP! The best is yet to come.

Monday Office Hours
We'll be holding one final set of office hours tomorrow (Monday) at 5:30 pm in the Horvitz lab library (4th floor of building 68, right above the PIT) if you want to drop by to go over anything before the exam (which will be from 9:00am-noon, as with previous exams).

Practice Exam 3 Posted
Please find a practice exam (last year's final) for exam 3 posted on Stellar, with the following clarifications below:
Question 1e: 'nuclear family' refers to a trio of affected individual and his/her parents.
Question 2: 'available samples' can be any group of people you could plausible collect data for (for example, a random sample from the population of Shanghai, Donald's children, etc, but NOT Donald's missing relatives).
Question 2b: mother's great uncle = the brother of the mother's grandfather or grandmother

Problem set 5
Good morning students. I hope you had a good Thanksgiving. I have posted a problem set for you which I hope you are able to get started on soon. While it may seem long at first, the idea is to give you as much to work with as I can to help you get to exam 3 with the best opportunity to have a good grasp of the material we are covering. Almost everything in the problem set relates to the topics I covered on Tuesday. The concepts which underlie part d of problem 3 will be addressed in some detail in class this coming Tuesday.
