Final Exam Study Materials Posted

All materials to help you study for the Final Exam are now posted. These include a write-up of the list of topics covered in class today. To help you quiz yourself, there are two versions of the list, one with and one without a brief description of the procedure(s) used to answer the questions. This document also includes a list of topics that will not be on the Final Exam and a list of mathematical procedures and tools that you need to be able to do.

The Final Exam problems will all be a variation or permutation or combination of problems on earlier exams. Since there are several dozens of those, no additional practice problems will be posted. To guide you, there is a list of problems NOT to study for the Final. To give you a version of the problems to study without your earlier answers written on it, there is a compressed version of all exam questions. To save paper, we prefer that you not print out this entire file.

Note that if you only know the answers to the exam questions, you could easily do very poorly on the Final. If, instead, you understand the procedures used on each problem, why that procedure was used for that particular question, and how to apply that procedure in general, it is guaranteed that you will do very well on the Final.

Mastering Physics Clarification

Hello all,

On Part B of Introduction to Two-Source Interference on MP #13, please note that the answers should be written with letters instead of numbers (using 1=A, 2=B, etc.) For example, the first option should be

A. -(1/2) \lambda

Hope this clears up any confusion.

-Dan
