Class wrap-up

Dear Class,

We graded your exam and uploaded final grades; exam grades will appear on Stellar shortly. As before, 85-100% was an A, 70-85% was a B, 55-70% was a C, and 40-55% was a D.

Overall, we are very happy with the class’s performance on the final exam. Great job! It took a lot of effort to learn this material, and we’re very proud of you.

If you have any questions about your final, email Tony. If you have questions about heat transfer and advanced heat transfer classes at MIT, you can ask any of us!

Thank you for your enthusiasm this semester, and I hope you all enjoy your time off.

Best,

Emily, Mohamad, and Tony

Help us improve our teaching!

Dear class,

Please take a few minutes to fill out your course evaluation for 2.051. I want to be a professor someday, and I believe Mohamad does too, so it would really help us out.

Thanks!

Emily

Final notes

The final exam is on Thursday, 22 December, 9am-noon, at duPont Gym.

You should bring a calculator to the exam. You may not use any
electronic devices other than a calculator: phones,
watches, tablets, and computers --- and any other devices with the
potential
to communicate --- are not permitted, and must be stowed out of view
during the exam.

You may also bring to the exam any hardcopy which you think might be
useful. You should not really need the textbook: we will provide you
with any thermal properties you might need; we will include with the
exam a few figures from the textbook which might (or might not) be
relevant; we will make available one electronic copy of the textbook on
a laptop at the front of the exam room. However, you are free to print
out the textbook, or excerpts from the textbook, if you think it will be
of use to you.

The final exam will cover the entire course, however there will be an
emphasis on the second half of the course. We also inform you that there
will be no questions related to either isotherms or to thermal fins.

Please check Stellar later this afternoon for the final uploads of lecture notes and
subject review.

Final Exam SQ

Final exam study questions on the topic of radiation have been uploaded. By now, you have practice questions that cover all the required material. Good Luck!
