Information:
What makes right actions right and wrong actions wrong? What is it to have a virtuous rather than a vicious character? Why should we care about these distinctions at all? Our aim is to understand how some of the most influential philosophers have addressed these questions, and by so doing, to better formulate our own views. We will read classic and contemporary authors, including Aristotle, Mill, Kant, Rawls, Nozick, Nagel and Korsgaard.

Reading for last two classes
Hi guys,As I said in class, I am switching the order of the last two free will readings. Here is the schedule for next week:
Monday: Hilary Bok, "Implications of Advances in Neuroscience for Freedom of the Will"
Wednesday: Susan Wolf, "Asymmetrical Freedom"
Because we lost a day, I am eliminating Susan Wolf's "Moral Saints".
