I've just posted the Final Exam, as well as a set of rough hand-written solutions. There were multiple ways of solving several of these problems, and we accepted any correct approach. I hope you find these solutions illuminating.

Please Check Grades

Dear 8.05,

Congratulations on finishing the semester! The final exam was very challenging, and I/m quite happy with how the class as a whole did. We will post grades after final exam period is over, but for now let me just say that I'm very pleased with what you've all managed to accomplish this term!

Before I run the final tally for your overall grades, I'd like to ask you all to take one last look at your grades on the Stellar gradebook and on the edX fork by tomorrow at 5pm. If you find any discrepancies, please email me immediately so I can fix it.

It has been a real joy guiding you through the foundations quantum mechanics this term, and getting to know a bunch of you in office hours and after class. Props on your dedication and engagement with the physics, thanks for the questions and enthusiasm, and cheers for the rest of your studies!

Lecture Notes and References

Dear 8.05,

I've just uploaded lecture notes for the last few lectures, including today's.

In addition, I've posted in the Materials section a file with some helpful references on Entanglement, Density Matrices, Open systems, and Decoherence. I hope you find them illuminating and fun.

Note: The discussion of Decoherence today does not appear in any of the problem sets or practice problems, and so will not be covered on the final. Entanglement and density matrices, yes; decoherence, no. Today was for your moral education.
