Recitation 1 Notes and Stata Tutorial Video Uploaded

Hi all,

I just uploaded notes (review of hypothesis test) from second half of today's recitation under Materials/Recitation. We will discuss hypothesis test a bit more on Tuesday in class and start linear regression.

There is also a short screen video posted about navigating the Stata GUI on Athena, which emulate the first half of today's recitation. Other resources on Stata: "accessing Stata at MIT" instructions, and a tip on X-Win32 (thanks to one of your classmates for pointing it out). Check these out if you plan to use Stata on your laptop and have not set it up. If you still have issues with setting Stata up (or any, let us know after class/in OH/on Piazza.

Recitation 1 (Friday 9/14 2pm E51-376)

Hi Everyone,

In our first recitation, we will review hypothesis tests with illustrations in Stata. I posted some Stata code that I will go over, which also serves as an introduction to Stata.

If you plan to "live-code" with me during the recitation on your laptop (and you plan to use Stata provided by MIT), I recommend you check out "accessing Stata at MIT" for instructions on how to use Stata remotely i.e. not at an Athena cluster.

Room change (E52-164)

Dear class,

our lectures will be moved to a new location. New room (E52-164) is bigger and should be more comfortable for us, it is just behind the elevators in E52. The next lecture (on Tuesday, September 11) will be there.
