5.12  Organic Chemistry I

Exam 1 review

Hi class,

As was mentioned in class there will be two review sessions for the upcoming exam 1.

These review sessions will be run by two TAs and both sessions will cover similar material. The dates, times, and TAs present are as follows:

Exam 1
Session 1: Thursday Sept. 27th 7-9pm, 32-123, Qilin He and Kathryn
Session 2: Saturday Sept 29th 1-3pm, 32-123, Gino and Elaine

Since Session 1 will take the place of Qilin He's usual office hours.

Turning in Problem Sets

Hi Class,

The first problem set is due today Monday September, 17th at noon. Please be sure to make this deadline as late assignments receive a 10% grade penalty.

When turning in the PSets there are a few options. The PSets can be directly turned into your TA through email or handoff. You can also drop your PSet into the Teaching Assistant's homework box for your specific recitation TA. This box is located in the room adjacent to the Chemistry Education Office.

If you do not know who your TA is please check the office hours announcements. I have listed the section each TA teaches next to their name.

If you have any questions about where to turn in the Problem Sets reach out to me or your recitation TA.

Registration and contact information

Hi class!

Below I will outline some important information regarding changing recitation sections and how to best contact myself and the rest of the 5.12 team.

Many of you have been emailing me asking about how to go about changing your recitation section. To do this please do the following:

1.Go to the 5.12 Stellar website and log in.

2.From the 5.12 Stellar landing page click on Membership (contained in the Navigation Bar on the right side of the screen)

3.You should see a list of students in the class, select your name by clicking the box to the left of your photo.

4.Next a drop-down menu should appear near the top of the screen from here you can select your desired recitation section, so long as seats remain.

5.After you have selected your desired recitation be sure to save your selection.

Please email me at acowfer@mit.edu if you have any difficulty’s doing so.

Secondly, when emailing the TAs or the instructor please include “5.12” in the subject line. This will help us answer your email in a timely manner. When emailing myself please give me at least 24 hours to get back to you, and please always be respectful when emailing any of us.
