6.776 High Speed Communication CircuitsSpring 2005 Instructors: Hae-Seung Lee, Michael H Perrott TA: Albert C. Jerng Lecture: TR1-2.30 (36-112) Information: Announcements6.776 Problem Set 6 CorrectionsThere are some corrections that need to be made to the homework problems on problem set 6.For problems 2-4, do all simulations using our class 0.18um transistor models on Spectre, instead of trying to use the level-3 models from the Thomas Lee book. Also, on problem 2, part (a), change to the following
assumptions - Announced on 19 April 2005 8:06 p.m. by Albert Jerng 6.776 Final Project - ASITICTo be able to run ASITIC on your Athena account, just do the usual steps :add 6.776 source /mit/6.776/setup_cadence There is a technology file called cmos018.tek that defines the process parameters that ASITIC needs. It has been placed in the Athena class directory /mit/6.776/Asitic To run ASITIC , type asitic_sun -t /mit/6.776/Asitic/cmos018.tek Alternatively, you can copy the tech file over to your own directory and type asitic_sun -t cmos018.tek To learn the ASITIC commands, please consult the documentation on the ASITIC website : http://rfic.eecs.berkeley.edu/~niknejad/doc-05-28-01/asitic.html
Announced on 15 April 2005 11:34 a.m. by Albert Jerng Gilbert MixerOne obvious reason that RF input is applied at the bottom diff pair and the LO is applied at the top is bacause the RF signal is usually small, and LO signal is large. MOS diff pairs are excellent current switces. When driven from a large amplitude LS signal, the top diff pair can switch the current generated by the linear transconductor at the bottom. If you do it the other way around - putting LO at the bottom, you are effectively turning the tail current on and off on the top diff pair working as a linear transconductor. This arrangement doesn't work as well and creat a lot more switching transient at the linear transconductor stageAnnounced on 05 April 2005 2:54 p.m. by Hae-Seung Lee Midterm QuizThe Midterm Quiz will be held on Thursday, April 7, 1-2:30.Please note that it will be in 36-153, not in the regular classroom. It will be open book, covers up to LNA's. You can bring the textbook, your own notes, homework, and class handouts, but no other technical materials. No laptops, but bring a calculator. Announced on 31 March 2005 2:42 p.m. by Hae-Seung Lee 6.776 Correction to HW4Hi class,There is a typo in HW4, problem 2f. c is defined as +j.55 in the problem set. It should be -j.55 as in the lecture notes. Sorry for the late correction. Albert Announced on 14 March 2005 4:44 p.m. by Albert Jerng
