Announcements

Recitation will be Thursdays at 12pm

Hi class,

Although some of you cannot attend the recitation on Thursdays, unfortunately there is no time on Friday that works for everyone. So, we will stay with Thursday at 12pm for the recitation. I will be posting notes for the recitations in case you can't make it.

Stay tuned for the next problem set. It should be posted by Wednesday night.

Recitation 9/9/10 (tomorrow)

Hi class,

Tomorrow's recitation will be pretty informal. I'm going to give a preview of specific topics that will be covered and answer your questions about the course (to help those who might be on the fence about whether to stay enrolled). If this is really short, I may talk a little about nonparametric regression, but we will probably finish early and save that for next week.

Office hours

I should have also mentioned that my office hours will be from 1-2:30pm on Mondays and 1-2:30pm on Thursdays (right after recitation).

My office is E52-354, which is right across the hall from the computer lab. However, please look for me first at the hallway tables on the 3rd floor of E51, since that will give us more space to work.

Best,
Tyler

Welcome to 14.771

Hi class,

This is Tyler Williams, your TA for 14.771 (Development Economics) this fall. I look forward to seeing you in class in about 30 minutes, and wanted to remind you that we have recitation tomorrow from 12-1pm in E51-390 (note that the room is different from the lectures, which are held in E51-372).

Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns about the course. My email is tkwillia@mit.edu. The website for the course is http://stellar.mit.edu/S/course/14/fa10/14.771. All problem sets, notes, and other materials will be distributed through the website. The syllabus has already been put up (which includes the reading list), and I will do my best to post recitation notes the night before the recitation so that you can have them for class.

See you all later this morning!
