Further Instructions from Course Director

When you report back to the companies you have been working with, view yourself as consultants that the company might have engaged.   You should identify what you think the most important issues facing the company are and what your constructive suggestions are for addressing these issues.  You should be professional, nuanced and judicious in your comments and not say, for example, whether you think the company is good or bad or whether you would invest in it.  In the past the companies have really valued the feedback that they have received from students in this course and many times have changed their strategy on the basis of this feedback.  Generally, the slide decks you present in class may need to be appropriately edited if you are going to present them to the companies.  The companies have volunteered to work with students in this course, and we want the companies to feel that they received something of value in return.  The report can be delivered verbally and/or in written form.  If possible, it is best if you speak (in person or by telephone) with the company so that they can ask you questions.  Each team should send a brief note to Tiana, Candy and me after it has delivered its report  to its company.  We need to deliver grades by December 17, so please do this before then.

Also, if you have not complete your online course evaluation before the start of the last class, please bring your laptop/tablet to class so you can do it in class.  We really value your comments.

Course faculty and staff are looking forward to your final presentations!

Presenting to the companies - by 12/17

Hi Class,

Just a reminder that your final output for the class, in addition to the presentation tomorrow, is to present your findings and recommendation back to the company. It is preferable for you to meet with them in person or on the phone, but if you cannot coordinate to meet, you can provide recommendations in writing. Whatever format, be sure to be judicious and professional in presenting what you think of their company (good or bad). Once you have done this, please email me (and cc Richard Cohen and Candy Weaver) to let us know that you have done it, and please do so by Dec 17th, as that is the day we must turn in grades for the semester.

Thanks,
Tiana
