Information:
Welcome to 18.904! This course is a seminar in topology. The main mathematical goal is to learn about some basic interactions between category theory and topology, through two classical construc- tions: the fundamental groupoid of a space and the classifying space of a category. The main non-mathematical goal is to obtain experience giving math talks. Lectures will be delivered by the students, with two students speaking at each class. There are no exams. There will be some homework assignments and a final paper.

Away Feb15-19
I will be attending a conference out of town between February 15th and February 19th.
On Feb 16th Monday classes will be held. On Feb 18th Joey Hirsch wil be moderating the seminar.
I will not hold offic hours that week. The students giving their presentation on February 18th should make sure to meet with me the week before, or arrange a meeting with Susan Ruff. The stusents presenting on Feb 23rd should meet with me Feb 22nd.
