Mid-term grades and solution

The midterm grades are now available on the course site.
The statistics are:
Mean 89
Median 91
Std 7.6
If you did not receive your booklet in the lecture today, and wish to get it back, please contact me via email.

A solution of the midterm is also available on the course site.
Brad and I will be glad to answer any clarifying questions about the published solutions by email or at office hours.

If you wish to request a regrading of the exam, please submit your exam booklet and a separate clear document detailing the reasons for the regrading request. All regrading requests must be submitted directly to me by the end of lecture 11/14/17.

Note, the grading was done according to a grading scale. Thus, any regrading request that deals with the number of points deducted (rather than the reason points were deducted) will not be accepted.
Also note that if you submit a regrading request your entire exam will be regraded.

Mid-term details

The Mid-term will be held on
Thursday October 19, on 2:30-4:00pm
at 50-340 (Walker Memorial).

The mid-term will be an hour and 20 minutes long, and closed book. A formula sheet that we will provide attached to the exam is available for your viewing in the Practice Material section, on the course site. The use of any other material is not allowed.

Welcome to the Optimization Methods course!

The syllabus and first set of lecture notes are available on the site.

Our first class will be on Thursday at 2:30pm in 32-123. Please bring the first set of lecture notes with you.

There will be no recitation on Wednesday. The recitation on Friday will be a review of algebra material needed for the course. It will be the only recitation on this subject, and we recommend that all students attend.
