Important! assigning you to illusions for comments

Hi all,

I left a comment on your Stellar entry for this project ("Illusion Project 2") that gives you two numbers that indicate which illusions you assigned to leave comments on. If you don't have this comment, email me straight away.
You are encouraged to add comments more on just those that you are assigned! :)

Instructions
4. (Due May 10, noon) You will be assigned two of your classmates' submissions in the gallery (http://www.mit.edu/~mcusi/illusionlab2/gallery/index.html) . On each, leave a 2-3 sentence comment that covers the following:
a) Pretend you are a research subject participating in your classmate's experiment. Describe your subjective experience of the illusion.
b) Now, pretend you are the researcher and assess whether your experience of the demo was helpful in answering the stated question.
Make sure to include your name. Feel free to include comments on other illusions as well.

(Due May 10, midnight) On your own illusion page, respond to the comments by your classmates. Pretending you are the researcher,
c) Assess whether the subjective reports answer your question
d) Identify what changes you could make to your illusion to get a clearer answer to your question; OR, ask a follow-up question based on the answer you've arrived at.
You may remain anonymous.

And don't forget: (Due May 10, midnight) On Stellar, submit a document to tell us at least one way we could improve this assignment.

Thanks all! Have fun :)

Notes from Today's Recitation

Hi everyone,

I've posted a zipped folder with materials from today's recitation, "Vision Illusion Lab Recitation", on Stellar. You'll find an updated powerpoint in there, as well as images and some intermediate GIMP files that can help demonstrate the process of making the illusions.

Let me know if you have any questions! And remember to sign up for a meeting on Monday or Tuesday if you haven't already: http://www.mit.edu/~mcusi/illusionlab2/meetings.html

Remember to check out what you need to have done before the meeting (info here: http://www.mit.edu/~mcusi/illusionlab2/description.html).

Best,
Maddie

Recitation tomorrow (Friday)

Hi everyone,

For the first half of tomorrow's recitation, I'll be going over some tools to help you with your upcoming illusion lab. Please download and install GIMP (https://www.gimp.org/downloads/) beforehand, an open source image editting software.

Please also download this image that we will use to make a 3D picture: https://www.flickr.com/photos/tristanf/3245199412

If you haven't already, please sign up for an illusion lab meeting with one of the teaching staff here: http://www.mit.edu/~mcusi/illusionlab2/meetings.html. You can read about these meetings at http://www.mit.edu/~mcusi/illusionlab2/description.html
