Musicianship Lab Week of 12/2

Musicianship Lab Week of 12/2

For our last class please have hard copies of the following: “O wie selig seid ihr doch” (Bach chorale), Mozart Nocturne III, Silent Night, and Joy to the World. Copies can be found on stellar.

Also I have shared a folder with this link to all the dictation answer scores. An excellent way to practice is to sing along in solfege with these scores to the audio recordings on stellar.

Have a safe and happy Thanksgiving!

Musicianship Lab Week of 11/8

Musicianship Lab Week of 11/8

For this week I would like you to do your dictation using the web application I demonstrated in class, Nameless Chamber: https://www.namelesschamber.com/

When you first sign up it will ask for a key. The registration key is 9JaNG83s

This key is deactivated after 48 hours so please sign up soon after you get this stellar announcement. To sign up you just need to put in your name and email address and a password - do not put in your student ID.

Once signed in you can navigate to the FA2019 Course where you will be able to access the Dictation 5 pset. Remember the application has a certain “pedagogical bias” in that it is designed to have the user slow down and go step by step through the dictation process. First you must input the meter, then the rhythm, then the key signature, and then the solfege. There is a help button that shows keystrokes.

Please spend no more than 30 minutes on the pset. Even if you do not have everything correct please do a final submit so that I have everyone’s submissions. In terms of grading I am looking for participation in solving the dictation.

I would also like you to provide feedback regarding the experience via this link:
https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSeLukwEalKTKBJZbJu1nH-2PktIgZmntCq4vjxs-s-r90Eo9w/viewform?usp=sf_link

This will help me improve the application so that it could become a meaningful part of learning dictation in the musicianship labs.

If you have any questions or if the application is not working properly please email me at any time.

Thanks!
