MOD 1 Lab Reports 5.351

Hello 5.351 Students,

-The lab reports have been graded by the course TAs and reviewed by
the Faculty in charge of this Module. Please stop in to pick up
your reports and final grades for Module 1, 5.351.

-It will be invaluable for this experiment to have the input of
your insight. Would you please stop in for a few minutes?

-Please come W this week anytime from 4-5:30pm. On TH this week
please stop by anytime 1:30-4:30pm or Friday from
12:30-1:30pm.

MOD 1 5.351 Check-Out

MOD 1 5.351 Check-Out will take place on M & T September 30
& October 1. Students will check out after the presentations.
If you are taking MOD 2 5.352, you will not need to check out of
the lockers. Also, you can retain your lab coats. Please do not
leave the lab if taking MOD 2 5.352. Check In for MOD 2 will take
place following the presentations 3:30 to 4:00 PM. The TA for MOD 2
Deiaa Harraz will be on hand to go over the policies and hand out hard copies of
the 5.352 lab manuals.

Safety Goggles

All 5.351 students are required to wear laboratory safety goggles in the
 Undergraduate Laboratory at all times. You will be required to purchase them at your expense. Proper goggles can be purchased from the VWR Stockroom in Room 56-068. Hours are from 8am-12pm and 1pm-4:30 pm, Mon-Fri. The goggles cost around $11 and acceptable forms of payment are Visa, Mastercard, Discover, and American Express debit and credit cards. A VWR requisition form is posted on Stellar. You will be required to present your student I.D. at the time of purchase. If you have your own safety goggles, please make sure that the Lab Director 
has approved them before you use them in the lab. Please make sure to obtain goggles before you begin 5.351 experiments. (You do not need them for Check In although we encourage you to acquire goggles as soon as possible)

Lab Coats
Lab coats are required and they will be distributed in lab. Coats must be turned in at the close of the semester.

Lab Notebooks

100-page duplicate carbonless page notebook is required. Those are available at the COOP and also are available at the VWR stockroom for around $16. You should get the notebooks now so that you are prepared for the first lab day.

Lab Assignments

The registrar divides the class into MW or TR sections. If you are placed into a section that conflicts with your class schedule please email Dolhun@mit.edu and we will try to move you to the other section. Please attend the safety lecture for the lab section you want to be registered in.

Looking forward to seeing you at the Safety Lectures TR lab sections on Thursday September 5 Room 4-231 and for MW lab sections on Wednesday September 4 at 1:00 Room 1-190. Also, the first mandatory class lecture Thursday September 5, in 4-153 at 12 PM Professor Keith Nelson.
