Information:
8.011 is Introductory Newtonian Mechanics with some calculus. Relative to mainline 8.01, the focus of this course is to teach you to do MIT-level problems with confidence and understanding. The purpose of this course is to increase your problem-solving expertise and to concentrate on the solution rather than the answer. To do this, we will assume that you have more basic knowledge of mechanics than a typical 8.01 student (e.g. took 8.01 or a significant part of it). Towards this end, the course will not contain lectures, but class will focus on solving challenging problems in groups. The absence of lectures to introduce material means that you (and the staff) have different responsibilities than in a traditional course. You will be responsible for your learning (good preparation for life beyond MIT) - in particular you should arrive at class prepared and ready to learn.

The homework is due on Friday at 10:00 AM (right before the quiz), however , we will collect the homework right after the quiz (if you have to drop it immediately after the quiz, it would be OK).
The First quiz will be on Dynamics (Forces). The kinematics material we covered today is not going to be on the quiz.
