22.13 Finals Graded
Dear Students,
Grading of the final exams is finished, hooray! I'll be creating a "fake" assignment on Stellar so you can see your grades, and in the next few days I'll be typesetting solutions for you to go through. If anyone would like to see their actual exams, please email or arrange with me. My schedule is all over the place this week, but I do have blocks of time here and there to meet. Next week is almost wide open.
Thanks again for making this a great first module offering! Your daily feedback on all the surveys was essential to improving the courses as we progressed, and I thank you for all your frank and honest feedback during the course.
Cheers,
-Mike

Final Exam Equation Sheet
Dear Students,
To help put your minds at ease, I have posted the actual equation sheet that I will be giving on the final exam. You can find it here. Again, the goal is to memorize nothing, but rather understand everything on the sheet, know how to use it, and use your intuition/insight to reason through new types of problems. Good luck!
Cheers,
-Mike

No Class on Wednesday March 19th - "Reading Period"
Dear Students,
I have received a number of requests, both anonymous and in-person, to add some flexibility to due dates and final exams due to a large workload in this last week and a half. Unfortunately I cannot move the final exam dates or problem set due dates, since we voted on these long ago, and changing due dates at this time is against MIT regulations. We also aren't allowed to have problem sets due after the last day of classes.
However, we have essentially covered all the critical material in the module a bit ahead of schedule. Therefore I am cancelling class on Wednesday March 19, so that you have a day of "reading period" to help prepare for the final exam. I hope this added flexibility gives you some breathing room during a busy end-of-half-term.
Cheers,
-Mike

Insidious, but Harmless, Typo in Pset 3
Dear Students,
One of you has uncovered an insidious typo in Figure 2 of Problem Set 3 (thank you, by the way!). Luckily, everything is still totally solvable in either case.
The heating cartridge says "MoS2" while I meant to type "MoSi2". For those of you who have already solved the problem with MoS2, don't bother recalculating, I'll accept both possible materials as potential solutions. For those having trouble finding a thermal conductivity for MoS2, you can try looking for MoSi2. Sorry for this typo, but luckily it creates no extra work for anyone but me!
Cheers,
-Mike
