Some of you may be interested in a webcast issued November 19 by Moody's Investors Service on the release of the third quarter 2007 report of the Moody's/REAL Commercial Property Price Index (an index based on Real Capital Analytics data and index construction methodology developed by the MIT Center for Real Estate). There is information about the current state and direction of the U.S. commercial property market, the Moody's/REAL transactions-price-based index, and the new tradable property derivatives based on that index (which could allow "synthetic investment" in real estate and/or hedging of commercial real estate risk exposure). The link to the webcast is below (available until February 19, 2008):

Please bring your laptops to RE Finance class again next Monday (Nov.26). We may discuss the "Chapter 15 Excel example" and/or the "Capital Accounts Excel Set-up Example" files in class, both of which are downloadable from the "Materials" page "Class Resources" section.

If possible, I suggest you bring your laptops to RE Finance class on Wednesday, November 7. We will be covering, either in lecture or recitation (or both), an Excel example relevant to Case 3 (including use of the Excel Data/Table utility for doing sensitivity analysis on the development project).

(Also, please note that Monday's class - 11/05 - will be in a different location than normal: I believe in Buidling 34, but Jennifer will be making a definitive announcement. This is due to the CRE open house that evening.)

Case 3 One Lincoln Street is posted on Stellar. It is due on Wednesday, Nov 14th. Group Formation and Online Discussion have been set up on Stellar Forum. Again, all Q&A must go through Stellar Forum. The rule of group formation has been slightly changed: 3 CRE students are allowed to work in the same group. I will be out of town for conference till Thursday. Any burning questions about midterm and case please refer to Josh and he will also try to give back the comments on Case 2 on Wed's recitation (Josh, I owe you a big one, plus a subway sandwich!)
