Supplemental background material recommended by Joel Voldman for 11-2 are posted. The Thorsen et al paper introduced Quake's approach, and the Xia/Whitesides reference has a good review on micropatterning. For a review on stem cell biology, the Weissman review paper and the NIH review give info about MSC's and HSC's.

Note for discussion leaders

Hi Everyone,

For discussion leaders, a reminder to spend a majority of class time leading the discussion - asking questions, raising issues, etc. - rather than presenting. In preparing for leading the discussion, spend most of your time thinking of what issues you want to bring up to talk about. The number of slides should be no more than about 5 to at most 15 in order to leave enough time for discussion.

Cheers,

Chris
