15.501  Corporate Financial Accounting (15.501 & 15.516 meet together)

Hi all,

Just to clarify, material from today's lecture will NOT be in the in class assignment on Wednesday. Only ch 11, 12 and 13 (and the corresponding lectures) are covered.

Also, I have managed to track down a prior in class assignment w/ solutions. This is posted under materials/exams. I dont know if it was open/closed book and how long they had to do the assignment, so I would use it more as practice rather than a guide to how this years assignment will be structured.

Hi all,

I wanted to give you some guidance about the in-class assignment next Wednesday.

1. Prof Watts has agreed to make it completely open book (ie any written material is fine). Please keep in mind that the idea behind this is so that you spend your time studying, doing practice questions and understanding the concepts, not rote learning material like ratio formulas which you can refer to.

2. The assignment is 50 min long and will commence at 1.30pm for Section A and 2.30pm for Section B.   

3. Ch 11, 12 and 13 will be covered in the assignment. Each chapter is allocated an equal amount of marks.

4. I will try and find a representative prior assignment to post on Stellar ASAP. In the meantime I would recommend using the examples from the lecture slides, the extra questions on Stellar posted from the textbook (solutions also posted) and relevant pset questions to prepare for the assignment.

5. I will post solutions to PSet 6 on Sunday morning.

1. If you have unenrolled from the class, drop me an email so I can take you off the class mailing list and reduce the spam in your inbox.

2. The exam solutions will be posted shortly. Exams will be handed back in class next Wednesday.

3. PSet 6 will be posted shortly and is not due until early December.

4. Seeing as there is no pset due next week, we will not hold office hours on Monday 3-5pm. Instead, please email me to make an appointment if you have any questions or want to discuss class material.

1. Last year's exam and solutions have been posted. This year's exam will be similar in spirit. Professor Watts will provide guidance about the content and format of the exam in class next week - please make sure to attend.

2. Recommended extra questions and solutions for Ch 11 have been posted.

3. Solutions for psets 4 and 5 have been posted. You may collect graded psets from E52-325 during office hours (M 3-5pm) or by appointment.
