RE Finance final assessment
Just to clarify... As stated in the syllabus (posted on the
materials page), the final graded assessment in the course will be
a "Module 4 quiz", similar to the previous quizzes (and
weighted the same), during the first half of the last class period
on Thursday December 10. After that, you will only have to complete
the course evaluation and you can therefore finish up on December
10th a little early. (I believe for CRE students there is a
"holiday party" sponsored by the CRE alumni that evening
at 6:00 at The Vault downtown.)

Updated Module 3 postings; Please use Forum
I have posted updated/revised versions of some of the Module 3
lecture notes, and the HW5 solutions file. No major changes, but a
few minor enhancements reflecting the classroom discussion.
Don't be shy about using the Discussion Forum to post
questions related to Module 3 as you're studying for the quiz
(please)...

APV Spreadsheet
Professor Geltner and I have uploaded different versions of,
generally, the same APV spreadsheets as a follow-up to the
recitation held last Thursday. The spreadsheets differ a bit in
format, but content should be relatively consistent. Those who were
able to attend recitation will notice that what I posted should
look familiar, and that the input cells are denoted with blue text,
and the dynamic cells, fed with information from the 'Alison
Realistic' worksheet are highlighted in gray. Professor
Geltner's revised version may be more straightforward and easy
to use, so I would advise reviewing this spreadsheet as well.

Excel Shortcuts
Per discussion in recitation last week, I have posted a brief
set of shortcuts for both Windows and Mac users. I have a different
set of shortcuts that I will photocopy and bring with me to class
on Tuesday, however I believe they are more/most useful to Windows
users. I will continue to look for additional Mac shortcut
lists.

Sustainability special guest in RE Fin recitation today (LS in Msx Lnge?)
In recitation today (10/29) there is first some important prep
and coaching re the Cartwright case that the TAs will go over, but
then at the end (maybe 15 minutes, maybe around 6:45?) we'll
have a few words (very informal) from Professor Norman Miller of
the University of San Diego. Norm is the "first
co-author" on our textbook, former founding director of the
real estate program at the University of Cincinnati, and special
advisor to CoStar Group Inc, a major publicly-traded real estate
data vendor firm specializing in commercial property and leasing
data. CoStar recently acquired Property & Portfolio Research
(PPR), a Boston-based real estate investment analytics firm (which
is now looking to hire 1 possibly 2 Masters level positions). In
recent years Norm has become a leader in research about
sustainability and energy efficiency in real estate, including
publishing an influential recent study of the effect of building
energy efficiency on rents and occupancy. And he has founded a new
academic journal on sustainable real estate. He will speak very
informally for 15 minutes or so, and then will accompany us on
"Liquidity Seminar". (There is a rumor that he might be
able to pick up at least some of the tab if we go to a quieter
place such as Middlesex Lounge rather than the beloved-but-noisy
Miracle of Science?...)
