Deadlines for labs & homeworks
For Lab1, we gave a short grace period, as many people ecountered the google earth issues. Starting from lab2, we switched to the regular schedule without informing the entire class so that some of you wew late. We won't apply late policy for this time, but this is the last time.
For lab3, remmember to upload your answer sheet (.txt, .doc, .pdf) to the stellar website.

ArcGIS 9.3 Installation Instruction
1. To order a copy of ArcGIS 9.3 software, you need to fill out
the online ESRI GIS software at MIT order form at
https://web.mit.edu/ist/products/vsls/forms/esri.html
(You will need MIT certificates to access this page.)
You can also share a copy with other students.
2. Install Kerberos
To run the ArcGIS, we suggest you to install Kerberos, especially
when you need to run ArcGIS off campus. Kerberos is a network
authentication software that provides security on physically
insecure networks. Kerberos can be downloaded at http://itinfo.mit.edu/product.php?name=kerberos.

3. Install ArcGIS Desktop.
Detailed Instruction of Installing ArcGIS 9.3 on Windows XP at the
MIT can be found at http://libraries.mit.edu/gis/software/arcgis_install/.
4. Setting the License Manager
After ArcGIS is installed successfully, you need to set the license
manager through the Desktop Administrator. This is found from the
Start Menu -> All Programs -> ArcGIS -> Desktop
Administrator.
Then click on the "License Manager" folder. Now click on
the "Change" button on the right side of the window.
Change the name of license manager to license-7.mit.edu.
5. Install VPN.
When you want to use ArcGIS off campus, you can't run it
without using a virtual private network. The software can be
downloaded at http://web.mit.edu/ist/services/network/vpn.html.
