Advice on Final Paper
As you know, your last paper assignment is due next Thursday, December 9. It requires you to revise one of the papers you previously wrote for the class. Your grade will be based on not only the resulting paper, but also the quality of the revisions themselves. (That is, a paper that is barely revised would receive a lower grade than the first time around, because it is missing the revision component.)We strongly encourage you to meet with one of us to discuss how you could most effectively revise your paper; in particular, you should meet either with your TA, with one of the instructors, or with Janis Melvold, the Writing Advisor for this class (contact her at: melvold@mit.edu).
This meeting will allow you to identify parts of your paper that we regard as particularly needing revision, giving you the best chance of revising it the areas we think will yield the greatest substantive improvement. In the course of the meeting, you should work with the person you meet with to develop a one-sentence summary of the areas you plan to work on in your revision; send this summary to your TA, and we will take it into account as we grade the paper.
