Updated Lab 7 posted
Hi Everyone,For those of you that are in the Monday sections, there has been an updated version of the lab posted on Stellar. This will hopefully clarify most of the questions you had on this lab. There is also a "cleaner" version of the data for you to download if you haven't started working already.

Reminder - GIS Field Data Collection Workshop Starts Today 2pm
Dear Short-coursers,
Those of you who think you might want to collect your own GIS data should try to squeeze in a few hours for Dan Sheehan's short workshop which starts TODAY 2pm.
I highly recommend those interested attend
this at 2pm and attend lab later or next week as needed.
Also, the course provides a look at the
"business points" data which I mentioned in class - very
useful stuff which complements census to give you a fine-grained
look at daytime characteristics of neighborhoods and
communities.
Regards,
Mike
DUSP Field Data Collection Module
Developing and executing a windshield survey
2-4PM, Tuesdays and Thursdays, starting 10/27 and ending 11/8, Room 9-251
Learn to collection information in the field and use different technologies for recording information. This four session workshop takes you from developing a hypothesis, developing a survey instrument to collect data, data collection in the field, and testing your hypothesis using the data you collected.
Prior to the workshop, staff will create a map of community assets based on City of Cambridge data and ESRI Business Analyst. The survey will randomly select areas near community assets and distant from any such asset. The survey will randomly select houses for assessment and assess the block as a whole. You will collect the data and then test your hypothesis.
