Thank you!

Hi guys,

I didn't want to take any more time at the end of class to do this, but I just wanted to say what a privilege it was to work with Leigh and all of you this semester. Those who know my program are aware that I came to LEA straight from immunology class, which, while educational, rarely involved anything as entertaining as cannibalism and evil babies. This course provided a much-needed foil.

It's been great getting to know all of you through the course. Thanks for your enthusiasm, humor, and even your occasional cynicism. I will miss you. Please do stay in touch.

All the best,
Charlotte

Hillary Clinton - International Human Rights Day

Hi all,

Thanks to Heather for sharing the following speech given by Hillary Clinton at International Human Rights Day in Geneva. As Heather points out: "While her speech was devoted to discussing the advancement of LGBT rights internationally, she touches on so many of the themes we have discussed in class, i.e. the relationship between individual and institution, whether rights are conferred to individuals by institutions or not, how we can take action as individuals to improve our lives and others, and why individuals who are not being discriminated against should care and take action to honor the rights of other human beings."

Happy watching and best wishes for the weekend --

Thanks,
Charlotte

Logistics for next week & 12/14 team assignment

Hi all,

I just wanted to follow up on a few items from today's class:

1) As Leigh mentioned, he will be out of town on Monday. I will be leading our discussion on "The Lives of Others," an optional screening of which will be shown tomorrow night at 7PM in E51-151.

2) Please feel free to reach out if you have any questions regarding the final paper.

3) We have one last team assignment for you in advance of our discussion of the Ready article on 12/14. Sometime in the next week, gather as a team for half an hour to share the stories that each of you would tell others to help build next-generation leaders. As a team, pick one of the stories you have shared, and plan on presenting it in Wednesday's class. Each team will have approximately 4 minutes, including questions from your classmates. You will see that context matters in the Ready formula, so please provide it as you introduce your story.

Thanks, everyone! Best of luck as the semester winds down.
