Short Writing Assignments

Just a quick reminder: make sure you have uploaded the most recent and complete file to the Short Writing Assignments slot on Stellar. I need these to generate the final grades.

Taking Writing Risks

I suggested yesterday that you experiment, in the drafts for your speeches, with being more personal and taking risks. You can judge for yourselves whether or not the piece I am linking to is successful in this regard. I'll just say that it took me years to feel like I was close to saying what I wanted to say here, that I put off writing this for a long time, worried about whether or not I could get it right, worried about who it would hurt or offend:

Lateness Policy for Paper #3

The upload slot for paper #3 is in place on the Stellar site. Paper is due by 6PM this Wednesday.

I will accept late papers, with a two point penalty for every twelve hours. Maximum grade becomes 98 if you upload by 6AM Thursday; 96 before 6PM Thu; 94 before 6AM Fri; 92 before 6PM Friday; 90 before 6AM Saturday. No papers after that point.

Grades Are Up

If you go to the slot on Stellar where you submitted the revision of paper #2, you can download a sheet that contains your name and a box that shows the grades (and percentages) from the syllabus. Grades for the first two papers and the first speech have been filled in. Happy to conference over the second paper with anyone who would find that useful.
